The theme and goals statements were the product of an 18-member Club Task Force that has discussed and debated content and language since last October. A copy of the complete language for approved Goals is included in the Documents section of Pearl Rotary’s Clubrunner website. A presentation to Club members on the Goals is scheduled for March 25.
Key approved Club goals for the next three years include:
COMMUNITY SERVICE: Add one more hands-on community service project beyond Meals on Wheels and Transition Project. Initiate and implement a long-range signature community service project that meets a significant local need related to health, education and/or youth issues. Establish an Interact service club (already underway). Eastblish partnerships with local Pearl District businesses and institutions as associates of Rotary in community service programs and projects.
INTERNATIONAL SERVICE: Lead a significant Rotary international project, preferably in Central America, in the health, education and/or youth arenas (see related story this issue of the eBulletion). Continue to participate with other Rotary Clubs by participating in funding for Rotary-sponsored projects worldwide.
CLUB SERVICES:
Fundraising: Beginning in 2008, create and sustain an annual Club signature fundraising event that helps PPRC achieve a net increase of $100,000 over the next three years for the Pearl Fund. Establish by 2009 a planned giving program to help expand the Pearl Fund reserves.
Membership; During the three-year period, sustain the size of Pearl Rotary at sixty (60) active members. Develop and sustain a membership retention strategy and implementation program. Produce a members’ handbook of essential information about PPRC, District 5100 and Rotary International policy, programs and projects.
Other Club services: Communications coordination to raise and sustain public awareness of PPRC, to establish an efficient internal communications system for Club members, and to assist other Club programs and project with marketing and promotion needs. Mount at least three key fellowship opportunities each year (beyond First Wednesday), with at least one of these involving all family members.
VOCATIONAL SERVICES: Sustain minimum of four business tours annually. Create a program to share the professional experience of seasoned PPRC members with new, younger members of the club. Initiate a Vocational Services Week during which Club members share their work experiences and opportunities with youth in the community.
OTHER GOALS: Goals for expanding the Club’s strategic plan and reviewing results regularly. Goals for supporting and assuring PPRC members’ involvement in District and RI leadership training and development opportunities.
Planning for implementation of the goals would occur primarily at the Club Committee level, Task Force chair Don Barney told the Board. He proposed that incoming committee chairs and other Club leaders for 2008-09 be asked to develop an implementation plan, including cost requirements, for the goals in their relevant sections of the Goal Statements by July 5, 2008. These leaders would be requested to provide the Board a written copy of their implementation plans for the July Board meeting, and to convene an organizational meeting of their respective committees by August 1.
