Pearl Jam, the Pearl District’s summer musicfest in Jamison Park, got a boost again this year from a contingent of Pearl Rotary members who helped set up, monitor the crowds and break down the party at the end of the day.

Duane Cook, Francis Lancaster and Don Barney started the day of the Club’s community service by setting up the outdoor tables, chairs and VIP areas, creating a party atmosphere throughout the park. The second shift, including Myron Fehr and Dave Bangsund and his wife, Lynne, helped with crowd control. The final crew from Pearl Rotary, including Michael Steen, Don Smith, the Bangsunds and Ted Lehman helped tear down the party set and restore Jamison Park to its natural order.

Duane and Don, after an afternoon of working in the sun, expressed special thanks to PPRC member Adina Flynn, who coincidentally hosted an open house at her Ameriprise offices in the Pearl. Duane and Don stopped in on their way home and were treated to an ice cold drink, which Duane said “may have saved my life”.

This is the third year Pearl Rotary has partnered with Hoyt Properties, host sponsor of Pearl Jam, to assist in managing the fest. A second summer 2007 session is planned for September.
