Three new members of Pearl Rotary — one of whom lives in the Pearl and another who works on the edge of the Pearl District — were approved by Pearl Rotary Board at its November (8) meeting.

These new members and three other PPRC members approved this fall received their membership orientation on November 17.

Newest PPRC members: David Hayes is a young financial advisor and analyst with the John Hancock Financial Network, located in the “Big Pink” building across W Burnside from the Pearl. David is a graduate of Oregon State and was sponsored by Pearl Rotarian Paul Cathcart, a Portland director of the Oregon State Alumni Assn. He has been actively involved in community service activities since moving to the Portland area.

Lowell Mengel, a real estate broker, is a new resident of the Pearl. He lives on NW 9th Av., where he also operates his business activity. Lowell is a former member of both the SW Eureka CA Rotary and the Sherman Oaks CA Rotary.

Robert (Bob) Burco, policy analyst by profession, is now retired and formerly was with the Oregon Dept. of Transportation. He is actively involved in community affairs including Rose Community Development Corp., and Loaves and Fishes. He is currently a SE Portland resident, and was formerly a member of Lake Oswego Rotary.
