Traditional Hawaiian-style roast pig and chicken will be featured at a summer luau set for August 23 to celebrate Pearl Rotary fellowship. The Club event will be held at the home of member Mike Rompa and will be underwritten by member Marc Dooley. Pearl Rotary members, spouses, family and friends are invited to attend the 6:30 pm event, co-chairs Jan Frutiger and Lokahi Kakalia announce.

Another feature of the event will be a Club raffle to win prizes of authentic Hawaiian foodstuffs, Kona coffee, jewelry and clothing brought to Portland by Lokahi’s Mom when she visits here later this month. Lottery tickets will be available at the Registrar’s desk on Tuesday morning meetings beginning July 24. Proceeds of the raffle will be used to help the Club fund and install a Rotary-gifted bench in the River District Community Garden in the Pearl.
